33-35 The Broadway

Common Ground Workshop have been commissioned to provide architectural services for a mixed-use multi-residential and commercial hospitality scheme located in Cheam, within the London Borough of Sutton. The proposals sit within a conservation area, and comprise of a large commercial space at ground floor level, and a change of use application to provide 5 residential units above the commercial space and to the rear, in a new-build back-land development.

The scheme seeks to greatly enhance the character of the high street and rear elevation, and the palette of materials and motifs to the rear elevations have been derived from the surrounding arts and crafts context. The scheme development incorporates refined
detailing throughout and will allude to the historical aesthetic of the surrounding historical village.

The development has been designed to achieve exemplary levels of sustainability and will feature air-source heat pumps throughout, a green roof, water harvesting, and triple glazing throughout, as well as a range of other energy-saving features.
