Common Ground Workshop is a London-based architectural studio established in 2014 with a unique vision for the built environment that harnesses creative energy through evolving collaborations between people. We believe that the promotion of shared interest and a common purpose leads to the evolution of exceptional projects: By putting clients, end users and communities at the heart of everything we do, we can collectively enrich and drive lasting value into our work and transcend tradition constraints to project success.
We strive to create a bespoke experience for every new project and our goal is to develop lasting networks between communities, local professionals and a broad range of industry leaders to drive maximum value into our work. Our studio is situated within a dynamic hybridized workspace, art’s and retail unit based at ‘Common E2’, and we believe that access to a continuously-evolving community greatly enriches and informs the quality of our design work and project consultancy.
We are an RIBA chartered practice that holistically understand the process of project development from creating an initial brief and a vision for your site to consulting with you on the commercial side of running a new business and delivering exceptional architectural solutions.
As industry leaders in commercial hospitality and workspace design our studio at ‘Common E2’ can be seen to be at the forefront of a new kind of hybridised office and retail premises, setting a benchmark for future workplace.
Utilising finely crafted movable partitions and highly modularised flexible storage, ‘Common E2’ is now a dynamic café & retail and art’s space that also incorporates an agile office unit for ‘Common Ground Workshop’. As the future of retail and workplace is now being radically re-evaluated Common Ground Workshop have embraced a new wave of possibilities for space operation: The bustling facility promotes a breakdown of the hitherto siloed approach to use class, and enables a burgeoning community that includes local design professionals and other industry leaders who intermingle with customers and visitors at the site.
Our work to date involves working with landlords, developers and private individuals to conceptualise and undertake alternative workspace, community event space, and hybrid retail schemes. Our rich experience in this new sector shows that successful design follows on from early consideration of strong and sustainable local community connectedness, combined with a willingness to embrace change and the possibilities presented by a paradigm shift in commercial use patterns.
Led by Directors Jack Pannell and Mark Sciberras, Common Ground Workshop undertakes work in 4 key sectors: Residential, Workspace & Hospitality, Arts & Culture and Urban Regeneration. The studio undertakes work within these sectors at a wide variety of scales, both in the UK and Australia, and to date the practice has designed, developed and successfully delivered projects that range from private residential properties, to commercial workspaces and large scale masterplans looking at urban regeneration and community connectedness.
Jack and Mark work closely with every Client to ensure that the budgetary, aesthetic, sustainable and any wider stakeholder and community needs are being met at every stage of a project. We understand that our client’s ambitions and needs must never be compromised, and have formed lasting relationships with a number of high profile developers and private individuals. A large proportion of our work comes through repeat business and we believe that this is testament to our client focused working ethos.
