Homeboy Bar

Common Ground Workshop were appointed to retrofit an existing bar and restaurant at Union Square, Embassy Gardens (Nine Elms) into a modern Irish cocktail bar for ‘Homeboy Bars’. Currently based in Islington, the space at Embassy Gardens is the second unit for the growing cocktail brand and forms a key destination in Nine Elms, adjacent to the American Embassy and attractions that include the Embassy Gardens Sky Pool.

The brief called for the existing space to be fully overhauled and re-fitted with a palate of materials traditionally found in Irish bars and restaurants, interpreted into a contemporary palate of modern materials and motifs. The front of house space is articulated by a continuous timber clad bar with an extensive visible bottle display and multiple cocktail mixing stations, where customers can interact with staff and experience the process and theatre of cocktail mixology. Hospitality is at the heart of the design and spatial experience, and the perimeter of the unit is punctuated with leather banquet and loose seating, curtains and intimate sung spaces with dimmable bespoke mood lighting and contemporary Irish interior decoration.
