Bow Housing

Bow Housing is a mixed-use development by East London housing architect Common Ground Workshop, featuring seven residential units over a commercial space fronting the Highstreet. This project exemplifies our commitment to creating sustainable, functional, and visually engaging living spaces tailored for modern families and communities.

The building is characterised by a refined palette of handmade brickwork, precast concrete, and folded metal detailing, drawing inspiration from both local industrial heritage and contemporary East London development patterns. A sculpted corner and subtly stepped massing ensure the scheme relates harmoniously to its neighbours, while introducing a strong civic presence.

At street level, the commercial unit activates the frontage and contributes to the vibrancy of the high street. Above, the residential units are arranged to maximise light and privacy, with careful attention to layout and access. The dematerialised upper storey and corner emphasis soften the overall mass and preserve key sightlines in the streetscape.

Bow Housing demonstrates how considered materiality, thoughtful massing, and contextual awareness can deliver meaningful regeneration on a tight urban site. The scheme brings much-needed housing to the borough while enhancing the architectural character of the local area.

Common Ground Workshop’s role as the East London housing architect on this project highlights our expertise in delivering residential schemes that contribute positively to their surroundings and improve quality of life for residents.
