Whitehorse Lane involves the refurbishment and rear extension of a listed three floor Georgian terrace house along with the inclusion of a new single bedroom home in the rear garden of the site. The project brief sets out to redevelop the ground and first floor of the existing house to create an open plan family home with strong connection to the rear garden.
The new house is designed to be accessed from a rear easement and function as a separate residence to the main house and blend into its surroundings by minimising its scale adjacent to the existing boundary wall, and lowering the finished floor below natural ground to minimise the buildings height and mass. A green roof over half the width of the new residence and to the full length will replace the natural landscape which has been disturbed by this intervention.
